Panay
Island
/ Kalibo
Kalibo, this is the type
of city where nothing happen but "Ati Atihan Festival"
in January : the Mardis gras of the Philippines. About
PANAY, I met 2 guys who did the trip through the west
part of the island and they really enjoyed the nature
and the people.
From Boracay, just get a
boat to Caticlan (16.5 pesos, every 15 minutes until 3:00
pm). On arrival in Caticlan you can get a Jeepney to Kalibo
(30 pesos, 2 hours).
What to do in Kalibo : take
some pictures, use the internet station in downtown, close
from Roxas avenue.
You can stay in RB lodge
(100 pesos for a single room), the room is small but acceptable
for an overnight. The next morning I paid a tricycle 20
pesos to go to the airport which only 2 minutes away from
the town. Try to get a better price.
The airport is typical :
the X-ray machine was out of order - normal - so I opened
my bag to show my dirty cloths to the policeman, then
I took a seat and a guy behind a small table was waiting
for me to give me the ticket I booked from Boracay.
About the plane, it was the
first in my life I took a so small plane : only 20 seats
and I had to walk on my knees to reach mine. 45 minutes
we were, alive in Cebu Airport.
